The ball never stops rolling here at the Baby Bank Network. A week since our first big donation event at Big Yellow Self Storage and the work hasn’t stopped there.

Our second event saw people from all side of Bristol, and plenty of babies and tots too, coming to Cake on Gloucester Road for our ‘Cake & Donate’ afternoon. With mouth-watering cakes, ranging from bakewells, chocolate orange, Oreo, Victoria sponge and gooey chocolate brownies alongside plenty of tea and coffee, a fabulous stream of people came along donating not only their money (in return for the coffee and cake), but they also brought along baby related items to donate.

Abi, the owner, was born to bake, it runs in the family, her mother is a baker too! Starting with a coffee shop in Bedminster supplying local coffee shops with cakes, she now owns Cake on Gloucester Road and also was recently selected as one of the judges of the Great Bristol Bake Off.

So with a brilliant location, delectable delights and a group like minded individuals the Baby Bank Network, with the help of Cake managed to raise a fabulous £90. What can £90 buy you these days? Well, one cot mattress, three baby kits or four postnatal mother packs. With the money raised and more donated items, the team have set to work on the task of sorting, organising and prepping our first bundles to give out. And as have been inundated with things from the Bristol public that this is no small task.

We can’t believe how quickly things have taken off and are excited about starting the second part of the BBN, actually delivering the goods to those who need it. Thanks for all the help so far and keep up the good work Bristol.
