Do you have some extra time on your hands and feel you could give something back?

It’s been a funny old time, hasn’t it – adjusting to lockdown / recovering from lockdown / preparing for a new lockdown…

While some of us are just as busy as before, you might also find you have a bit more time on your hands, having temporarily dropped the daily commute and general ferrying-about of family and friends.

And we think many of us are feeling a pull to explore something new, or give something back. At Baby Bank Network we’ve had lots more people approach us during this time, asking what they can do to help.

And that’s fantastic, because we’re looking to fill two really important positions at the moment, and one might well suit you – or someone you know.

If you can spare a couple of hours a month and want to help vulnerable children and their families around Bristol, our board is looking for two special people

Do you have a head for numbers? If you have experience in finance or business management accounts, could you be our next treasurer?

As treasurer, you would:

  • Oversee our finances to ensure they’re legal, constitutional and within accepted accounting practice
  • Keep records and ensure we have effective financial procedures
  • Monitor and report on our financial health
  • Produce the necessary management accounts/financial reports/returns, accounts and audits.

The board meets online roughly every 6 weeks, usually in an evening.

You can find more details about the treasurer role here

If numbers aren’t your thing, have you got a flair for fundraising?

We’re looking for someone with experience of community fundraising and grants to lead our fundraising strategy and volunteer fundraising team.

As a fundraising board member, you would:

  • Oversee and develop our fundraising strategy, alongside our volunteer fundraising team
  • Ensure our fundraising is in line with good practice
  • Lead on grant applications, including writing and supporting other bid writers.

Our current fundraising lead, Morena, gives us a taste of the role:

‘This role is dynamic and never boring! You’ll be working alongside amazing people who share your values and are passionate about making a positive impact in our community.

‘Leading the fundraising team offers you the opportunity to see the bigger picture and to challenge yourself to think outside the box. But most importantly, it gives you a sense of purpose – knowing that you’re helping to make Bristol and our society a better place.

‘If you are creative, organised and happy to lead a team of volunteers, this could be the role for you!’

The board meets online roughly every 6 weeks, usually in an evening.

Our fundraising team meets every 4-6 weeks and communicates on social media in the interim. You may also need to attend the occasional event (once they can take place again!)

You can find more details of the fundraising role here.

If you’d like to apply for either of these positions, please download the application form and return it to jobs@babybanknetwork.com.

We would love it if you could also share this post within your own networks and communities so we can find the right person.

If these positions aren’t quite right, there are lots of other ways you can help Baby Bank Network at the moment. Check out our recent blog for the extra help we’re looking for right now: https://www.babybanknetwork.com/covid-thank-you/.
